Terms of Service
Last updated 19 October 2026
These terms apply to everyone who uses Sthavira: PG and hostel owners, their staff, residents, applicants and visitors to our public pages. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Sthavira.
1. What Sthavira is
Sthavira is software that helps owners run paying-guest accommodation, hostels and similar residences: rooms and beds, applications, bills and receipts, requests, dining, notices and related records. Sthavira is a technology provider. The accommodation itself, its rent, rules, deposits, food and services are provided by the owner of each residence, not by Sthavira.
2. Accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old, or have a parent or guardian accept these terms for you.
- Give accurate details and keep them up to date. Do not create accounts for other people without their permission.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us at once if you think it has been misused.
- Resident and staff accounts become active only after the owner of the residence approves them. Owner accounts may need platform verification before they appear in public listings.
3. Owners' responsibilities
Owners also agree to the Owner Terms.
- You are responsible for the residence, your listing, prices, house rules and all dealings with your residents and staff.
- You must have a lawful basis for the personal data you collect through Sthavira, use it only to run your residence, and follow applicable law, including police-verification, tenancy, tax and consumer-protection rules.
- Public profiles must be truthful. Do not publish photos, prices, vacancy or amenities that you know to be wrong.
- Bills, receipts and agreements generated in Sthavira are based on the information you enter. Check them before you rely on or issue them.
4. Residents' and applicants' responsibilities
Residents and applicants also agree to the Resident Terms.
- Provide genuine identity and contact details when you apply. Upload only your own documents.
- Rent, deposits, refunds and stay terms are agreed between you and the owner. Raise disputes with the owner first; we can help with records but cannot decide the dispute.
- Follow the house rules of your residence.
5. Payments
Where online payment is offered, it is processed by a third-party payment provider such as Razorpay, or made directly to the owner by UPI. Sthavira does not store card or bank-account credentials. A payment marked in Sthavira is a record between you and the owner. See the Refund and Cancellation Policy.
6. Acceptable use
Do not:
- access accounts, data or residences that are not yours, or try to get around access controls;
- probe, scan, overload or disrupt the service, or use automated tools to scrape it, except where we have agreed in writing;
- upload unlawful, misleading, abusive or infringing content, or another person's identity documents without permission;
- use Sthavira to harass residents, discriminate unlawfully, or send unsolicited messages.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules or put other users at risk.
7. Your content and data
You keep ownership of the information you add. You give us permission to store, process and display it only as needed to run the service for you and the residence you belong to. How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Features in development
Some features are marked as unavailable, paused or in preview. They may change or be withdrawn. Do not rely on them for anything important until they are generally available.
9. Availability and liability
We work to keep Sthavira available and accurate, but it is provided "as is". We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for disputes between owners and residents, or for losses caused by information you entered. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us for the service in the three months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or other law that cannot be excluded.
10. Ending your use
You can stop using Sthavira at any time. To close your account, contact us. Some records, such as bills, receipts and payment history, may have to be kept after closure where the law or the residence's legitimate record-keeping needs require it.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. When the changes are significant we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Sthavira after that means you accept the updated terms.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. We will first try to resolve any complaint informally. If that fails, the competent courts in India have jurisdiction.
13. Contact
